promoting his son to major-general, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has handed his wife a lucrative post
in his new cabinet amidst complains he was
pushing a family agenda in Ugandan politics.
Uganda has
81 ministers, the largest cabinet in East Africa, mainly compromising of old
hands (the President’s old friends), others as old as 81 years old without portfolio.
Could it be for impending succession politics sending Uganda’s 71 years veteran
President to act weirdly because the constitution will bar him from contesting
in 2021 and making sure family will be well positioned? Who knows even the Wife
could vie for Presidency ….
